An Afternoon Visit to Menchie's

Thursday May 12, 2016

By Roger Strauss and Eve Kofsky, Friday Date Night

A weekday afternoon visit to Menchie’s allows us the opportunity to meet and spend some time with the owner.

He doesn’t have any idea that we are going to blog about his shop.  He could not be more welcoming, pleasant and helpful.

This bright, clean, colorful, serve yourself store has enough space for 16 flavors. There is also a wall full of toppings.

We’ve just had a pretty big lunch, so our treats will be small, but we each manage to enjoy three flavors and three toppings.

On the left is salted caramel, cookies & cream and red velvet cake topped with andes candies, mini m&m’s and cookie dough  On the right is peach, milk chocolate and cake batter topped with andes candies, multi-colored sprinkles and chocolate nonpareils.

This is yogurt that is packed with flavor.  While other yogurt stores leave you wondering what you are eating, Menchie’s flavors shine through in every bite.  The peach is peachy, the red velvet cake makes you look for the cream cheese icing, and the cake batter has you thinking you are at a birthday party.

We really like the variety of toppings.  There are so many that you will have a hard time deciding what to put on top of your creation.  Wet or dry, hot or cold, Menchie’s has you (and your yogurt) covered.

Here are three things you should know:

Tastes are encouraged.  There are little white cups for you to use before you make your final choice.  But be careful, you don’t want to fill up before it’s time to eat your masterpiece.
If you are looking for fat free, or sugar free options, no problem.
You pay by the ounce, so be careful when heaping on those toppings.
