Seven New Businesses Set to Open Their Doors at The Avenue Forsyth

Tuesday, Jun 14, 8:00AM
Atlanta, GA – The Avenue® Forsyth will soon be home to seven new restaurants, retailers and businesses, solidifying its position as a one-stop shopping and dining destination, and increasing its business service offerings for added convenience for Cumming residents.

The largest lease of the quarter came from Academy Sports + Outdoors, which leased 72,000 square feet, replacing the former 26,000 square foot Circuit City space. Academy Sports + Outdoors, opening its 6th Georgia location before the holiday season, will offer a broad assortment of quality hunting, fishing and camping equipment and gear, along with sports and leisure products, footwear, apparel and more.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta opened a pediatric outpatient facility at The Avenue Forsyth on June 1, offering immediate care, rehabilitation, sports medicine, orthotics, prosthetics and basic radiology services. Pediatric specialties at this facility include orthopedics, hand and upper extremity, general surgery, allergy and asthma, otolaryngology (ENT) and ophthalmology.

Also opening this summer, PeachMac, an Apple Specialist and Service Provider, will offer Forsyth County residents the convenience of the products and services available at an Apple Store in their own backyard. PeachMac features Macs, iPads, iPods, and AppleTV, a huge selection of accessories and add-ons, as well as training and support programs and free workshops.

Two new restaurants – Marlow’s Tavern and Mellow Mushroom – also will soon open at The Avenue Forsyth. Marlow’s, scheduled to open in July, will serve modern-American tavern fare in a contemporary neighborhood environment. Mellow Mushroom, the popular Atlanta-based franchise with more than 100 locations in 16 states, plans to open in September. This will be the first franchise location for owners Charlie and Kelly Wilson of Crabapple.

"As a family, The Avenue is where we go for a break whenever we want to see a movie or shop," said Kelly Wilson – owner, Mellow Mushroom at The Avenue Forsyth. "We had been planning to open a Mellow Mushroom, and it couldn’t be more perfect that an opportunity opened up right in our own backyard. Forsyth County needed a restaurant with the delicious food and fun, family friendly atmosphere of Mellow Mushroom, and we’re happy to provide it.

In addition to these retailers and restaurants, Green Payment Processing and Complete Health Sleep Center will open this summer within The Avenue Forsyth office suites.
These new offerings come on the heels of five new openings in the winter of 2010/2011 – Georgetown Interiors, Studio Lotus, Summit Resources, Dental Town and Washburn Family Dentistry.

"We’ve heard our customers’ requests and are pleased to be able to offer these new options to the community," said Megan Jurkovic – senior marketing manager, The Avenue Forsyth. "Coupled with our new shopping, service and healthcare options, we’re able to truly provide one-stop shopping and dining in a family friendly environment.
